How to Install Brother Printer Cartridge

There are two ways to install cartridges to a Brother printer.

Ink Cartridges:

  • Step 1: On the front panel of your Brother printer, there is a cartridge cover on the right-side, open it.
  • Step 2: Remove the green protective cover from the inside of the Brother machine.
  • Step 3: Start unpacking your ink cartridge cover.
  • Step 4: You will find the ink cartridge’s green knob.
  • Step 5: Turn the knob clockwise until you hear a faint click.
  • Step 6: From the ink cartridge, you must remove the yellow protective cap.
  • Step 7: Fix the cartridges into their appropriate colored slot BK, Y, C, M (Black, Yellow, Cyan, Magenta).
  • Step 8: You will find an arrow mark on the cartridge’s label, which is an indication to install in the correct direction.
  • Step 9: Gently insert the cartridge until it clicks.
  • Step 10: Repeat the same steps for other cartridges- Black, Yellow, Cyan.
  • Step 11: Once the installation is complete, you can close the cartridge cover.

Toner Cartridges:

  • Step 1: Unwrap the toner cartridge and place it aside.
  • Step 2: Open the front panel of the Brother printer just below the printer’s control panel.
  • Step 3: Gently remove the Drum/Toner cartridge.
  • Step 4: You will find a green knob on the left side of the cartridge holder, which acts as a brace for the cartridge.
  • Step 5: Take out the protective film which comes with the toner cartridge.
  • Step 6: Place it gently from its back-end and press it down firmly until you hear it click into place.
  • Step 7: (Check if it’s appropriately set by holding the green knob and push it back in)
  • Step 8: You will find the corona wire at the back-end of the toner cartridge.
  • Step 9: It’s necessary to clean the corona wire by sliding the tab several times.
  • Step 10: The tab must return to its original position.
  • Step 11: Now, gently place the toner cartridge back into the printer and close the front panel.
  • Step 12: You will find the printer displaying No Cartridge with an exclamation (!) if the cartridge is not installed correctly.
