How to Add Printer to Chromebook

Printing from a Chromebook has become easier over the years. Still, many of us have no idea of how to get started with the printing. You must add a printer to your Chromebook. The Chromebook’s printing capabilities are managed by the Google Cloud Print services. The configuration sends documents to the printer wirelessly or connect a printer to Chromebook with wires. Cloud-ready and classic printers can be used with Chrome OS.

Add a Printer to Chromebook

If the Mac computer on which the printer is to be installed has a printer software, it should be removed from the computer.

  • Step 1: Update the Chromebook to the most current version of Chrome OS.
  • Step 2: Turn on the printer, install the cartridges, and load plain paper in it.
  • Step 3: Connect the printer USB cable to the Chromebook.
  • Step 4: Make sure you connect your Chromebook to the local network.
  • Step 5: Connect your Windows or Mac computer with the same network.
  • Step 6: Switch on the printer.
  • Step 7: Download and install the Chrome browser on your computer.
  • Step 8: Launch the Chrome browser.
  • Step 9: Tap the three-dot icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Step 10: Choose Settings from the drop-down menu.
  • Step 11: Navigate to the bottom and select Settings Advanced.
  • Step 12: Pick Google Cloud Print.
  • Step 13: Select Manage Cloud Print devices.
  • Step 14: Click Sign In link at the bottom of the page under My devices.
  • Step 15: Type your Google credentials and continue.
  • Step 16: View the list of available printers under My Devices.
  • Step 17: Select the printer to be registered with Google Cloud Print. Hit Add printer.
  • Step 18: The printer is now connected to the Chromebook

Add Cloud-Ready Printer to Chromebook

  • Step 1: Power up the printer.
  • Step 2: Visit CloudPrint in the Chrome browser.
  • Step 3: Tap Add Cloud Ready Printer on the left side of the page.
  • Step 4: View the list of cloud-ready printers.
  • Step 5: Select your printer manufacturer.
  • Step 6: You can see the list of supported models on the right of the screen.
  • Step 7: Click the link in the center of the page and follow the steps.
  • Step 8: Go back to CloudPrint.
  • Step 9: Select Printers on the left menu page.
  • Step 10: You’ll find your printer enlisted.

Print from Chromebook

  • Step 1: Go to the Chrome browser’s menu and select Print.
  • Step 2: Or press Ctrl + P on your keyboard.
  • Step 3: Hit Change in the Google Print interface.
  • Step 4: Pick your printer from the displayed list.
  • Step 5: Select Print once you’ve configured with the settings.
